Corolla Outer Banks Vacation

With expansive Atlantic beaches, luxurious seaside accommodations, polished landscaping and upscale shopping and dining complexes, Corolla on the Outer Banks of North Carolina is an increasingly popular East Coast vacation destination. It is a world of contemporary luxuries, where vacationing is easy and life is civilized.

Corolla is predominantly a vacationland. The full-time, year-round population is only around 500, while the summer population can soar to thousands a week! In Corolla you’ll find all the amenities you want for a great vacation but not a lot of the regular services you’re used to back home. No one really cares too much about the lack of super stores and necessities. Here, everyone’s mind is on the beach. Corolla’s beaches are clean and vast, with fine sand that gently slopes to the sea. In the off-season you can find great isolated stretches of beach all to yourself.

The main Corolla tourist season is, obviously, summer – from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Fall is heavenly on the Outer Banks because the crowds are thinner, the rates are a bit cheaper, all of the businesses are still open, the locals are in fabulous moods and the weather is still mild. And don’t overlook winter and spring Corolla vacation, when you can definitely get an accommodation bargain and some isolation, though not all of the businesses will be open.

While Corolla’s draw isn’t as a big recreation hotspot on the Outer Banks, it does offer kayak tours, Jet Ski rentals, surfing lessons, fishing charters, wild horse-finding trips, go-carts, a links-style golf course and tennis courts to keep you busy all day long. The only thing you might long for in Corolla is nightlife. There are a few Corolla bars that now offer live entertainment during the summer season, but if you want to hop from spot to spot, this isn’t the scene. It’s really okay, though, since most Corolla residents and vacationers tend to prefer quiet nights—a late dinner out, a stroll on the beach, maybe a movie. There’s too much to do during the day to stay up all night!Up until the development boom of the 1980s, some 25 years ago, Corolla was little-known and little-traveled and was often referred to as North Carolina’s last beach frontier. That’s all changed today. Corolla has grown quite rapidly, and it is a top vacation destination on the East Coast. The establishment of rental properties and a few hotels have brought vacationers, which have in turn brought all the amenities of a modern vacation — shopping centers, restaurants, movies, grocery stores, a golf course, tennis, swimming pools galore, attractions and recreational opportunities.
