In North Carolina, all liquor and spirits other than beer and wine are sold at special package stores by the name of ABC Stores. The Corolla location is at 500 Hunt Club Drive. It’s near the south entrance of the Currituck Club, a golfing community off N.C. Highway 12. Checks are not accepted. Beer and wine are sold at grocery and convenience stores.

If you couldn't bring it or forgot it, don't worry. Just for the Beach probably has it, and they can deliver it to you before you even miss it. Here you can rent baby equipment like cribs and strollers, cottage equipment like grills, recreational equipment like bikes, kayaks and surfboards and beach equipment like umbrellas and chairs. Just for the Beach is also a retail shop with a bunch of beach souvenirs, toys and gift items.

Bluewater Seafood offers fresh-caught fish, clams, crabmeat, scallops, lobsters and other treats from the sea. They also carry everything else you need to prepare a delicious seafood dinner at home, including fresh produce, marinades, spices and seafood tools. Or call ahead and have your crabs, shrimp, lobster and crab legs steamed to order. For a real seafood feast, order one of their steamer buckets to go; just select your favorite seafood to fill it. Stop here on the way out of town to take local seafood home to your freezer. Bluewater is open every day in season.

This candle shop isn't like the others. If you'd like to literally take some of the beauty of the beach home with you, check this place out. Local candle artists Chuck and Janet Sowers make a line of beautifully colored candles that are embedded with shells picked right from Outer Banks beaches every morning. You'll also find a full line of Burt's Bees natural skin care products as well as incense, Windstone Sculptures and other local art.

	Corolla Surf Shop TimBuck II Shopping Village (252) 453-9273 Gary Smith, the affable owner of Corolla Surf Shop, is the father of surfing culture on the northern beaches. With lessons, rentals, sales and repairs, Gary strives to introduce surfing to everyone who wants to learn and to keep the local surfers happy. He sells more than 100 new and used boards, by both local shapers and nationally known names. At all four locations you can arrange for surf lessons (students must be at least 9 years old) and rent surf equipment. The surf shop also sells a great variety of surf-wear, sunglasses, sandals and accessories for the whole family. Check out the newly added board room full of surf, skim, body and skate boards. Like all the other locations, you can arrange for surf lessons here (for ages 9 and older) and rent surf equipment. It seems that everywhere you look on the Outer Banks there's a Gray's Department Store, and there are two more in TimBuck II. These are some of the most popular stores on the beach for good reason. At the big store, Gray's offers the largest selection of Tommy Bahama and Fresh Produce sportswear on the Outer Banks alongside Sigrid Olsen, Columbia, Woolrich, Billabong and Quiksilver. Gray’s says they have the largest selection of Vera Bradley in the mid-Atlantic region. Plus you'll find souvenir T-shirts, sweatshirts and hats for the whole family. They stock fresh, local seafood and a full line of beers and fine wines.

Here is another branch of this widespread Outer Banks department store. Gray's is one of the most popular stores on the beach for good reason. They offer the largest selection of Tommy Bahama and Fresh Produce sportswear on the Outer Banks alongside Sigrid Olsen, Columbia, Woolrich, Billabong and Quiksilver. Gray's says they have the largest selection of Vera Bradley in the mid-Atlantic region. Gray's also has OBX gear, souvenir T-shirts, hats, cozy sweatshirts, Eliza B. sandals, belts and key chains plus gift items and jewelry.

The Little Light Keeper's House at the Currituck Beach Lighthouse compound is now a museum shop that will delight anyone who loves lighthouses and wild horses. It's fun to wander around in this historic building looking at the architectural elements and at the same time see every kind of lighthouse souvenir you could possibly imagine. There are T-shirts and clothing, hats, books, prints, figurines, lamps, ornaments, jewelry, magnets, patches, dishtowels, cards, postcards and more, not just for the Currituck Beach Lighthouse but for other lighthouses as well. The interior itself is charming, with old doors, windows and shutters used as display stands and the original beaded board on the walls painted in old-fashioned colors. Spry Creek is owned by lifelong Outer Banks resident Karen Whitfield and her husband, John. They have converted her father's old auto repair shop into a quirky, surprising shop. They kept the old bay doors and shop flooring for charm, and be sure to look for Karen's father's work bench, which came out of Penny's Hill Lifesaving Station. In the shop, Karen emphasizes local artwork like jewelry, art glass, handmade soaps and even carved decoys. She has imported linens, handcrafted ceramics from Spain, Portugal and Mexico and Mexican glassware. Spry Creek is named after a deepwater creek just north of the shop where local fishermen used to keep their boats and a couple of local crabbers still do.

Whalehead Club Museum Shop

After touring the house and grounds, visit the Museum Shop for unique Corolla keepsakes. They offer beautiful books of local interest such as The Whalehead Club; Reflections of Currituck Heritage by Susan Joy Davis and a new coffee table photography book, The Whalehead Club - A Legacy Preserved by acclaimed photographer Mollie Isaacs. The Museum Shop showcases the talents of area artists who create items pertaining to The Whalehead Club (circa 1920s), one of America's most beautiful historic homes (see Attractions). During restoration the copper shingles were replaced and the originals (with a perfect green patina) were placed in the hands of artists who created unique art in jewelry, picture frames, lamps, birdhouses and ornaments. The Museum Shop also offers miniature decoys, clothing, hats, photographs, posters and scented bath salts in honor of Mrs. E. C. Knight, Jr., the original lady of the house, who enjoyed a seawater bath. Help save history: Proceeds from the shop support ongoing preservation of Currituck Heritage Park!

Winks of Corolla

Just north of old Corolla village, Winks is a landmark store on the northern beaches. During the fall of 2006, a fire destroyed most of the building that houses Winks and the Post Office, but both are scheduled to reopen in 2007. Winks sells gas, grocery items, snacks, drinks, ice, beer and wine, toiletries, sundries, local and regional books, beach needs and more. The Corolla Post Office is next door.
