The sunny-orange atmosphere in the coffee shop is enough to wake you up, but you’ll want to try the coffee too — they have quite a variety and it’s roasted fresh in the shop to delight your olfactory senses. All the usual coffee drinks are offered as are tea and homemade pastries and other sweets, all baked in the Coffee Company’s bakery. For a nominal fee you can get connected here with wireless internet access. They sell newspapers as well so you can get your morning news.

This gallery is a consignment shop for beach artists, and it’s a place to celebrate the local creative spirit. You’ll find all local art, including photography, paintings, woodwork, carvings, jewelry, stained glass, pottery, candles, children’s items, Christmas decor, local music and so much more. There’s a lot to see, so make some time to browse around and soak it all in. Shug n’ Company is just across from Currituck Heritage Park in the Corolla Light Town Center.

Spry Creek Home Accents

Spry Creek is owned by lifelong Outer Banks resident Karen Whitfield and her husband, John. They have converted her father’s old auto repair shop into a surprising home accents shop. They kept the old bay doors and shop flooring for charm, and be sure to look for Karen’s father’s work bench, which came out of Penny’s Hill Lifesaving Station. In the shop, Karen emphasizes local artwork like jewelry, art glass, handmade soaps and even carved decoys. She has imported linens, handcrafted ceramics from Spain, Poland, Portugal and Mexico as well as Mexican glassware and Polish art glass. This year they’ve added toys, glassware and hand-woven throws made in the U.S.A. Spry Creek is named after a deepwater creek just north of the shop where local fishermen used to keep their boats and a couple of local crabbers still do.

Everybody can find a swimsuit at this store. Surfside Casuals is one of the area’s longest-standing shops offering swimwear, beach apparel and sportswear. They offer some of the hottest brand names in surf- and beach-inspired clothing for women, men and children. The swimsuit section has hundreds of suits, including separates, for every shape and age. They specialize in sterling silver and semi-precious gemstone creations and feature their own line of jewelry created right here and sold only in their shops in the Outer Banks. TimBuck II, named after its developers, Tim and Buck Thornton, is a shopping, dining and entertainment village with more than 60 shops and restaurants. The shopping, dining and entertainment venues span the range of interests, and the whole family could truly spend a day here. Restrooms are around every corner, and there’s a playground in the center.

Try My Nuts Nut Company

This store is all about nuts, including gourmet roasted nuts, chocolate-covered nuts, honey-roasted nuts and others in all flavors and varieties. Try their white trash and dirty white trash concoctions, a mix of pretzels, crisp cereals and pecans covered in white and milk chocolate. Also try the wasabi-covered peanuts, which are especially tasty. They also sell chocolates and candy, an unbelievable assortment of hot sauces, grilling spices and meat rubs and drink mixes. Already-packaged gift boxes and baskets make great gifts. For the easily amused, there are humorous T-shirts and boxer shorts and creative packaging and labels. Check out their Duck and Kill Devil Hills locations as well.

TW’s Bait & Tackle

There’s something for everyone at TW’s. Of course, TW’s has all the fishing supplies you could need, but they also have a full selection of sportswear for the entire family. They carry a full line of Columbia clothing, Aftco sportswear, dresses for women and children’s clothing. You’ll love their T-shirts with lots of great fishing designs. Whalehead Club Museum Shop

After touring the house and grounds (see Attractions) visit the Museum Shop. The shop showcases the talents of both local and regional artists who create handmade treasures related to the property. For example, you’ll find custom crafted jewelry and ornaments made from the original copper roof shingles, circa 1925. While browsing, you will also find a selection of hand-carved decoys, beautiful paintings, photos and prints. Also enjoy books on hunting, waterfowl and Outer Banks lore. Got kids? You’ll find plenty for them—from real working pirate telescopes and compasses to books, games and puzzles. For the rest of your family and friends, choose from Art Nouveau and Tiffany-inspired puzzles, notecards and bookmarks as well as Whalehead Club logo items including canvas tote bags, T-shirts, hats, coffee mugs and other souvenirs. Your purchases help save history as all proceeds support ongoing preservation of the Whalehead Club. The Museum Shop is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Winks of Corolla

Just north of old Corolla village, Winks is a landmark store on the northern beaches. They sell gas, grocery items, snacks, drinks, ice, beer (including local micro-brews) and wine, toiletries, sundries, local and regional books, beach needs and more. The Corolla Post Office is next door.
